About Me

Hi- My name is Bill.  I have one goal in mind for this website.  Satisfy all website visitors to the absolute best of my ability.  The purpose of this site is to provide information relating to the Automatic Identification and Data Collection Industry.   I would like to concentrate on discussions of barcodes, barcode scanners and even portable data terminals.  I would be happy to take your questions related to barcodes and barcode scanning.  I’ll do my best to answer them.  This information is free.  So please keep that in mind if I can’t answer your question ;-)

I have worked in a technical support and engineering role for a major player in the AIDC industry for the past 17 years.  My main focus has been hand held barcode scanners, but I have also worked with and supported portable data terminals.  If it’s related to data collection through the use of barcodes I have probably seen it all.

I am not an expert on RFID.  I am currently trying to learn more about that industry myself.  It’s only a matter of time before RFID starts making a large impact on the barcode world.

Many people have commented, and many more will comment that barcode is spelled wrong.  Barcode is supposed to be spelled bar code.  However, less than 1% of all support emails we’ve ever received actually spell barcode as bar code.  It’s for that reason I will use the word barcode throughout this entire site.  We need to get Merriam Webster to change the dictionary!

This is my first foray into website development.  I’ve enjoyed the challenge so far.  I hope you enjoy the site as well.

A little more about me.  I like listening to music a lot.  My musical tastes vary daily.  About the only music genres I don’t like are rap and twangy country.  I’ve been teaching myself to play the guitar, and it’s not going so well.  But hey, it’s fun.  I enjoy traveling, but not camping.  Anything techy is perfect for me.  I would also say that I like to help people to the point of obsession.  It’s probably my biggest fault.  If someone asks me for help I will usually spend way to much time digging in.  Even if I don’t know anything about the problem.  But that’s just me….

Welcome to www.barcodehelponline.com.  I sincerely hope you enjoy the site.
